One of the most buzzed about films by sci-fi enthusiasts and movie-goers, Prometheus opened up an entirely different world filled with philosophical questions about the origin of the human race. If its own objective was to keep the fans, guessing what exactly the movie is apart, they’ve succeeded. Each part had been dissected and studied in order for fans to get supporting facts to backup their own opinions of the film.
After years of massive speculations and discussions about the possibility of another movie, Ridley Scott confirmed that he will once again return to the Prometheus universe for a sequel.
Here’s the latest Prometheus 2 Release Date and Plot Spoilers.
The famous sci-fi mastermind and 20th Century Fox, the production giant behind the film, are now working on the plot, with 15 drafts and evolving.
Scott had previously revealed that the sequel will be staying from Xenomorphs. “I think you’ve got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we’ve found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start.” Many people are left to wonder what that “next step” truly entails.
But, if you were to ask the lead actress, Noomi Rapace, she might have an idea of the direction her character might be headed in Prometheus 2.
Rapace plays Elizabeth Shaw, the only survivor among mankind in the last film. She, along with decapitated Droid, David (Michael Fassbender) set out unto space to find the Engineers and their homeworld, and find out the real reason behind their creators’ motive in ending the human race.
The star stressed that she doesn’t know exactly what Scott has planned for the followup movie, but shared, “I know that Elizabeth Shaw wants to go to paradise…She can’t go to Earth. There’s nothing left for her there, really. She wants to go to where they came from…I think in her head, that’s the ‘Dark Paradise’. I think she wants to know answers.”
When asked about who, or rather what, the potential villain could be in Prometheus 2, Rapace said, “God? the devil? …or I don’t know where he’s going to take us.”
But, while finding the Gods, or the Engineers, and the Dark Paradise won’t be too much of a stretch for the story, ScreenRant thinks that it’s highly unlikely that the Prometheus sequel will immediately open up to Elizabeth and David arriving in the bustling destination. They believe that it’s much more probable that, “they’ll be caught up in a horrific detour or arrive safe and sound, but find the Engineers have been ravaged by a completely different threat.”
Although it will push for a quite lengthy story and movie, it does present an interesting storyline for the second film.
Prometheus 2 had initially targeted for a 2016 release date, with filming to commence in fall of 2014. However, because of the delay in production schedule, the studios has failed to announce another official release date as of yet. (source)
